Robert William Stivers, 56, died Oct. 5, 2010, from complications of Frontotemporal Dementia,
at Hospice House of Reno County.
He was born Sept. 22, 1954, in Hutchinson, Kansas, the son of
Dr. Tom and Zoe Stivers. He graduated from Hutchinson High School and McPherson College.
He was Vice President of Materials for APAC-Kansas, Shears Division.
People will remember Bob for his love of music. He was known for his ability to fix anything and
loved tinkering on his projects. He loved going to sporting events, cheering for Jeff Gordon and
the Jayhawks. He was a Zymurgist (home brewer). Bob loved to travel, especially to the ocean beaches.
He married Ann Disney on July 24, 1976. She survives. He is also survived by three sons, Tom and
his wife Taylor, Hutchinson, David and his wife Niki, Wichita, and Christopher and his wife
Diana, Knoxville, Tenn.; four grandchildren, Lily, Drew, Julianna, and Conner Stivers; sister,
Susan and her husband Craig Curtis, Eden Prairie, Minn.; stepsisters, Sara Jones, Patricia Swartout;
stepbrother, Will Shears.
He was preceded in death by his parents and stepfather, William Shears.
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 9th, 2010, at Elliott Chapel, Hutchinson.
Friends may sign the book from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. today and Friday and until service on Saturday at
Elliott Mortuary. His body was donated to the University of
Kansas Medical School.
